Bermondsey Street Festival 2012 Chinese Dragon

STALLS
Check out the offerings from some of Bermondsey’s best designer makers. Come down early to browse before the crowds arrive.

CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS PARADE AND MAYPOLE DANCING
This is for children 12 years and under. They can come dressed as anything they like – as long as it’s red, white and blue. Get creative! Turn up from 11.30am in Bermondsey Square with the parade commencing at 11.45am to arrive at the park by midday. Maypole dancing with Donna Maria will follow the prize giving ceremony.

DELFINA
Curated by Southwark Studios, Delfina’s wonderful gallery space is home to the Bermondsey Street Festival’s local artist exhibition. Doors open from 11am to 6pm. In association with the Wine and Spirit Trust (WSET), Delfina are also hosting regular wine tasting from 12noon until 5pm. Tickets are £2.50 and available during the day from the WSET stall.

DIG IT SOUND SYSTEM
With a hand built set of woofers and tweeters, the Dig It Sound System bring their DIY party vibe to Black Swan Yard. They’ll be warming things up from 11am until close.

Bermondsey Street Festival 2012 Tug of War
SALSA ORACLE
Tyers Gate gets a Latin make-over with free salsa classes (on the hour) from 1pm until close.

IDEAS TAP STAGE
Based on Bermondsey Street, Ideas Tap help young creative people at the start of their careers. This year they take on the Performance Stage. Expect anything, including performances the full length of the street.

THE FASHION SHOW
For a preview of this season’s hottest looks from creative superstars such as Zandra Rhodes, Pussy Willow, Susie Stone, Bermondsey 167 and Charlotte Casadejus. Models will strut their stuff along Morocco Street to the beats of a live DJ, starting at 1pm.

THE ‘BLISS’ MUSIC STAGE
In support of local premature baby charity the Bliss Music Stage features some top bands with a summery up-tempo vibe. Expect lots of Brass later.

TANNER STREET PARK
The park is the place to come for dining alfresco with Bermondsey Street’s finest restaurants. It’s also where the Beer Tent is. There’s plenty more to get involved with in the park with children’s arts and crafts, the opportunity to make friends with the sheep and ferrets from Surrey Docks City Farm, the tennis competition, guided walks and watch out for the Mummers play at 1.30pm.

THE DOG SHOW
Bermondsey Street’s eagerly anticipated annual dog show starts at 2pm in Tanner Street Park. Registration is from 11.30am at the Holli and Lil Shop on a first come, first served basis. Categories include:
• The Lily Award – Prettiest Pedigree Bitch
• The Eddie Award – Handsomest Pedigree Boy
• The Holly Award – Loveliest Crossbreed
• Anything goes with the fancy dress section
• And Best in Show!

Bermondsey Street Festival 2012 Young Girl Dance
TUG OF WAR
Will the Woolpack successfully defend their title? Teams are welcomed from pubs, companies, buildings or groups of friends. Each team should contain 6 members. Entrants should visit the BSAP stall at the entrance to Tanner Street to sign-up. The Tug of War starts at 4pm in Tanner Street Park.

BERMONDSEY SQUARE
With DJ’s and market stalls and plenty of outdoor seating Bermondsey Square is a laidback space for soaking up the atmosphere. At 8pm there will be an outdoor cinema screening of a vintage favourite musical.

MARY MAGDALEN CHURCH AND YARD
Mary Magdalen Chuch are holding a traditional style fete. Expect Coconut shies, bouncy castles, cakes, tombola’s and BBQ’s.

AND FINALLY
Fancy a knees up? Fancy grabbing some of the limelight? Then step up to ‘Street Piano’ and impromptu performance space. Your chance to shine! Have fun!
