The Valentina craftsmanship and tremendous taste comes to Clapham Junction by Martine David

during the summer, Valentina Fine Foods opened their newest restaurant in the shadow of the iconic Tower Bridge. Fast forward several months to November, and the sophisticated azure hue of the Valentina deli and restaurant brand is set to continue their success by opening in a brand new location, their ninth to date, in Clapham Junction.

As with all of their sites, the Clapham Junction branch will stock their fantastic range of over 1,500 Italian delicacies, including fresh hams and salami, cheeses and traditional antipasti. Their shelves will also include their own range of pantry essentials, such as pasta, olive oils, jams and even honeys, all of which have been specially sourced and imported straight from Italy.

The Zoccola and Arcari families have been bringing Italian food to England for 25 years now, and the key to their longevity is undoubtedly the provenance of their goods. This is why, wherever possible, all of the ingredients and products they cook with carry the prestigious Denominazione di Origine Protetta (Protected Designation of Origin) certification, or DOP. A small commitment in the grand scheme of things, but one that guarantees the products have been made by local farmers and artisans. In fact, by law, only DOP products, such as balsamic vinegar for example, are allowed to carry the word ‘traditional’ on their labels, as they adhere to local traditions.

As you would imagine, Valentina’s beautiful products are not just limited to food. Every year Valentina’s wine buyer is given the task of travelling the length and breadth of Italy to seek out the most interesting and palette-pleasing wines. As a result, Valentina’s wine list reads like a dream, with products from the northern Alto Adige regions all the way down to the hot and sandy terroir of Sicily.

As it was in Shad Thames, Clapham Junction’s Valentina is sure to be a hit. According to Bruno Zoccola: “We are very excited about the latest addition to our family business. Clapham Junction has a vibrant atmosphere with a great mix of young families and professionals.”

Valentina Tower Bridge opened to a fanfare of opera singers and refreshing bubbles. The opening of the Clapham branch looks set to be just as charming, with Father Christmas and his team of reindeer visiting to enjoy a slice of panettone with guests this season too!
