Traditionally, a cooper is a professional maker; someone who crafts wooden vessels bound together with hoops, such as casks, barrels and buckets. Cooper & Southwark pays tribute to good and hard work done in this neighbourhood in the past, to the rich history of barrel-making once common in the area, and looks to the promise of work to be done in the future.

Cooper & Southwark, at 61 Southwark Street is a 78,000 sq ft office space scheme, developed by HB Reavis and designed by Tate Hindle Architects (which has recently completed the transformation of a 1960s office block into the third and largest space of the world-renowned Gagosian art gallery in London).

HB Reavis is transforming an outmoded, nine-storey concrete office block into a high quality and vibrant centre for work, adding additional floor space, terraces on the 5th and 6th floors, and a new self-contained unit on Great Guildford Street. It will be an inspiring and sophisticated workplace for enlightened occupiers at the heart of a creative and buzzing neighbourhood.

Additionally, the site is only a stone’s throw away from major cultural institutions including the Tate Modern, Borough Market and provides strategic transport connections to London Bridge, Blackfriars and Waterloo stations.

Cooper & Southwark is due for completion in Q4 2017. It is the third development in the London market portfolio of HB Reavis, alongside 33 Central and 20 Farringdon Street.
