With Christmas already on the horizon, the team at Great Guns Social in Borough have begun road-testing their festive cocktail menu.
We met with head barman Beni Kovacs, who gave us a little insight into the creations they’ll be pouring over the Christmas period – and how you can knock them up yourself at home. “We’ve got a great new champagne cocktail that I’m really excited about this year,” says Beni. “We’ve worked closely with Moet to create the ‘Little Star’, which is already proving popular among our staff and we can’t wait to get it on the menu for Christmas.”
The Little Star sees a 20ml shot of Belvedere Vodka mixed with 10ml dry Curacao and 15ml lemon juice, topped up with Moet champagne. Garnish with sliced lemon and serve in a champagne glass.

Beni and his team are also working on a special, Great Guns Social mulled wine and a fresh twist on Egg Nog for customers at the Borough hotspot. “We’ll be creating a festive menu full of our own interpretations of traditional drinks, but we’ll also be serving customer favourites from throughout the year, including our hugely popular GGS Mai Tai,” Beni added.
For the Mai Tai cocktail, take 40ml shot of Appleton Estates rum and mix with 10ml of Wray & Nephew rum. Drop in a 20ml shot of Orget, 15ml Dry Curacao and 25ml lime juice. Add two dashes of Angostura Bitters and serve in a lowball glass with a slice of orange as a garnish.
