THE ART OF GIFTS at bermondsey 167

A concept born of two cultures by George Swinton

Bermondsey 167

michael McGrath is a menswear and textile designer who studied at art college in Dublin and London before opening B-167 with Alessandro Palhares in 2007. Michael spent eight years as head menswear designer for Burberry and after worked as creative director for an Italian interior fabrics company.

Michael explained their unique approach, “The bermondsey 167 concept is a merge of two cultures. It mixes my Irish roots, passion for natural materials and colour with Alessandro’s South American background. We love to work with semi precious stones, reclaimed wood and beautiful things that are very carefully designed and sourced.”

Michael and Alessandro design and work in conjunction with other young artisans to create unique items of clothing, accessories, jewellery, art, lighting and small furniture. This makes bermondsey 167 unique from other high street shops.
