Is the rest of the world laughing at us right now? Do we care? Should we? Or is the bigger shame that we’ve allowed Brexit to get in the way of our day to day lives and our happiness?
One day, when it’s all over, hopefully we’ll see it differently; either as our failed attempt to break free of a Europe that’s either unwise or impossible to leave, or just a drawn out tearful farewell on a station platform.
It could still turn out to be as embarrassing as the day they buried Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote “The Hokey Cokey”. The story goes that in 1996 LaPrise had died peacefully at the age of 93, but the most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started…
