British Land is developing plans for a new urban centre on the Rotherhithe peninsula. The Canada Water Masterplan incorporates the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, the SE16 Printworks and Surrey Quays Leisure Park. It includes new workspaces in many sizes to suit major employers, start-ups and independent businesses alike, alongside retail, restaurants, leisure, entertainment and new homes set in a network of streets and public space. The Masterplan also includes a replacement for Seven Islands Leisure Centre and a potential higher education element.
Following public exhibitions of the draft Masterplan earlier in 2016 and British Land’s recent purchase of the historic Dock Offices, the Masterplan is being reviewed. The revised Masterplan will be shared with the community for further feedback as plans evolve, before planning submission in 2017.
In the upcoming months, the Masterplan team is hosting topic sessions to explore the key themes raised in the consultation so far. Two informal drop-ins, held at the Canada Water Masterplan hub at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, will take place on 3rd and 8th of December looking at transport. All local residents are welcome!”
