When the Busking Blues sessions were recently launched at Leadbellys Canada Water Plaza nobody could have guessed they would so quickly become the showcase of London’s musical talent that they have, with bookings set for December that include

December 14th – The Cosimo Matassa Project Trio (festive New Orleans R&B party)
December 21st – Steve Morrison
The music scene at the venue is co-ordinated by veteran hosts Superglad and, believe me, there’s quite a craft in what they do; shaping the right mix of performers with the location. But the management at Leadbellys also deserve a round of applause for making the space and time for musicians and singers to entertain the regulars there.
As Lara at the bar recently said, “because Thursday’s are the new Friday’s we’re planning an ‘Xmas Blues Party’ on Thursday the 14th of December. We’re tweaking our regular ‘Busking Blues’ session into a festive New Orleans R&B Party with The Cosimo Matassa Project Trio.”
The Cosimo Matassa Project are a seriously good outfit so the people of Canada Water Plaza are set for a treat, to be sure. Having said that, anyone who was there in November to see Dai Price playing solo will already know why Leadbellys is getting a reputation for all the best reasons.
The proud arrival of locally made craft beers
The other craft celebrated at the bar is beer. Not so much the craft of making it, but the art and practice of enjoying Craft Beer. With a dedicated Craft Beer Week (30th November-7th December), there are all sorts of benefits to taking part. From a crafty Burger and Beer deal to winning a brewery tour round Fourpure, a local craft beer company in Bermondsey.
