Blackheath, A Romantic Setting

Recently refurbished by top local interior designer, the Clarendon Hotel now offers fabulous luxury interiors that match the splendour of its views over Blackheath.

The Clarendon Hotel looks out over Blackheath and All Saints’ (the “Church on the Heath”)

Settings like these are hard to come by, especially so close to a city centre, and for couples looking for an idyllic wedding venue that offers an alternative to an urban event, the new-look Clarendon Hotel is likely to feature high on their ‘Gold List’.

The hotel is now licensed for Civil Marriages and Partnerships and there ample locations inside and outside for those perfect wedding photos, with All Saints’ Church close by on the heath opposite and a fabulous landscaped garden at the rear of the hotel.

The heath itself is steeped in history. It was the meeting place for Wat Tyler’s Peasant’s Revolt in 1381, and again for Jack Cade’s Kenish Rebellion in 1450. It was also the welcoming site for Henry V on his victorious return from Agincourt in 1415 as well as countless stories of highwaymen in the centuries that followed. Famously, Blackheath was the first place that golf was introduced to England by James I in 1608, so the legend goes…

Large private garden at the rear of the hotel

The Clarendon Hotel is an independently owned and run hotel with over 100 rooms in three contemporary styles, many of which have been recently refurbished. Naturally the Honeymoon suites offer an extra bit of luxury with a spacious bedroom, a King size bed and a separate lounge area.
